WWPM/PYIR Tour: Day 2
Day 1 was supposed to end in Little Rock, but a late start would cancel a stop in St. Louis and Cape Girardeau, but manage to make smaller stops in Sikeston, MO and Blytheville, AR. We would reach Little Rock at the beginning of Day 2, but we would not stop. The journey continues...
WWPM president & CEO Jake Leonard would leave from Little Rock, without any promotion to head toward Texarkana, AR. I-30 is often a busy interstate, so timing became an issue. There will be no long unscheduled stop, but there will be no more than 45 minutes of promoting.
We would have continued on toward Dallas, but we would take US-59 toward Houston.
Promoting in Houston would be out of the question, as the traffic there is as complicated as a bankruptcy hearing of the Houston Astros or an investor meeting on bringing back Enron.
We would finally zip out of heavy Houston traffic, amidst heavy rainfall in the area, and finally exited on TX-288 en route to Angleton, TX, a city I haven't visited for some 16 years.
Angleton was rather small about 16-17 years ago, but it has surely grown since my childhood days. My mother and 82-year-old grandmother, who each lived in the city in their younger days, were amazed at the change, which is deemed photo-worthy.
I would be relieved when by the end of the day, despite my event booking agent cancelling Little Rock and Houston, when we finally reach Rockport. It would be discovered at 6:00 PM CDT, while I'm having supper with my family, that plans for a different route of return would not change, but any tour stop in the original route would be ultimately cancelled.
So I was a little surprised. So no San Antonio, OKC, Tulsa, Branson or any other stop? That was a burn in the middle of a North/South Central mini-promotional tour.
