WWPM/PYIR Tour: Day 3

Posted By Jake Leonard | 11:03am |

We would end day 2 in Rockport, TX and stayed in a hotel for the night after a 21-hour run (including stops). A change in the return route last minute would bring in different opportunities on our way back.

We would have gone toward Corpus Christi and rerouted north through San Antonio and DFW, but the events booking agent changed the course on us. We would have to take most of the route back.

There would be some changes in this return:
1) We would enter TX-36 at West Columbia, TX to avoid traffic in Angleton.
2) We would have to enter Houston traffic again, but to exit onto I-45.
3) We would not be going into DFW for rush hour reasons (and rush hour can last for hours, like Atlanta.
4) We would avoid taking I-40 to Memphis by taking US-67/US-167 at Little Rock.
5) We will be going through Poplar Bluff and Sikeston, MO on the way back and taking US-51/I-57 on the Illinois stretch.

We thought we would be in Texarkana by the end of the night, but severe weather would temporarily throw us off between Jacksonville and New Summerfield, TX. Unfortunately, we would be following the storm northeast and all the way back into Illinois.
