WWPM/PYIR Tour: Day 4

Posted By Jake Leonard | 11:19am |

Alternate routes and byways as a last-minute change would push us into day 4 and just short of becoming a day 5. This is the final day of the tour.

We would pick up on day 4 in Little Rock, using the route we were assigned. We would run into several things on this alternate route:
- Driving 475 miles less to Missouri
- Road Construction (Arkansas & Missouri)
- Heavy Traffic (where it isn't usually)
- Constantly changing speed limits

We would finally reach Poplar Bluff, MO around 11:00 AM CDT after facing the above issues. Driving on US-60 would be no better. After a 45-minute stop in Poplar Bluff, there were also 15-minute stops in Dexter and Sikeston.

In Sikeston, we would begin on I-57 and conditions were no better, 47 miles of northbound lanes were moved to be side-by-side with southbound traffic. Finally, we would finally make it onto US-51 to head toward home, but not without stopping at SIUC, Centralia and Vandalia before embarking the scenic route home.

WWPM president & CEO Jake Leonard and his family would like to thank Matt Rebman at Enterprise Rent-A-Car for getting us such a sweet deal on a car rental. Also, thanks to businesses and individuals along the road that offered food and drinks along the way.
