The company had challenges in maintaining and motivating staff, resulting in a decrease in revenue during the course of a year. Mr. Cain recognized that the culture had much to do with this downhill slide and took the initiative to develop a performance based culture that resulted in growth and a successful turnaround of the company. The greatest challenges that the CEO has experienced running his own company are:
As mentioned previously, a decrease in sales resulting in conducting a self-evaluation of the organization in order to determine any deficiencies. When this was conducted, Mr. Cain recognized that the internal cultureĀ needed work and attention. Through numerous reiterations of defining the perfect culture, Mr. Cain developed a technique called: IQ + EQ management. This has made a significant positive impact on the company. Logistics has routinely applied key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure the outcome - the IQ - of their supply chain efforts. Recently, innovative logistics managers have begun to look beyond the numbers. One important trend in logistics management is managing a workforce to drive improvements by balancing the IQ (intelligence quotient) of their supply chain operations with the EQ (emotional quotient) of their workforce.

Neither of the founder's parents owned or ran a business when he was growing up.

According to the CEO, the most important factor to the company's success is: Good employees.
