AnaSpec Introduces New Series of PAR Peptides
San Jose, CA – July 7, 2008AnaSpec, one of the world’s largest providers of catalog peptides, has introduced its latest series of PAR peptides.Protease or Proteinase-Activated Receptors, PARs, belong to the seven transmembrane G-protein coupled family of receptors.1 These receptors are activated when the amino terminus of the receptor is cleaved by specific serine proteases - thrombin (PAR-1, 3 and 4) and trypsin (PAR-2). 2 The cleaved amino end can then act as a tethered ligand on the second extracellular loop of the receptor thereby activating the receptor. 1 Short sequences contained in the amino terminus have been found to activate the receptors on their own, without the need for the protease cleavage.
