HumCap Joins With 40 Other Companies To Renovate And Rejuvenate The Brady Center In East Dallas

DALLAS, TX – On Tuesday, September 11, the Entrepreneurs Foundation of North Texas (EFNT) will host its sixth annual Freedom Day bringing together more than 300 EFNT stakeholders for a day of community service in honor of those whose lives were forever changed by the tragic events of September 11, 2001. This year, EFNT, a fund of the Communities Foundation of Texas, is partnering with Catholic Charities of Dallas at the Brady Center, an East Dallas based agency that provides social services ranging from health screenings and emergency aid to English as a Second Language classes and monthly supplemental food assistance to more than 5,000 people a year. After gathering in the morning for a moment of reflection, Freedom Day volunteers will spend the rest of the day working on projects including painting, carpentry, cleaning, landscaping, organizing the thrift store, and much more. In addition to work done on-site, some volunteers will be providing much needed renovations in the homes of low-income senior citizens. The day concludes with a service celebration.

“We chose for our company to get involved with Freedom Day because we truly believe in the power of volunteering and the importance of giving back to the community, especially on a day as memorable as September 11th,” said Tad McIntosh, CEO of HumCap, which is one of 40 of companies participating in Freedom Day.

“Freedom Day was created as a way for companies to ‘answer the call’ and promote the American spirit of hopefulness,” said Pam Gerber, director of the EFNT. “Volunteering is one of the most uniquely American things someone can do. We know that this year’s Freedom Day will bring together new and returning enthusiastic volunteers for a day of rewarding community service that will leave a lasting gift for everyone touched by Catholic Charities of Dallas at the Brady Center.

”Now in its sixth year, previous EFNT Freedom Days have been held in partnership with organizations including the Interfaith Housing Coalition, the Wilkinson Center, Community Homes for Adults Incorporated, Camp Summit, Junior Achievement and The Science Place. Freedom Day is a service project for EFNT members only. Additional information about Freedom Day is available online at www.efnt.org/freedomday.com.

The Entrepreneurs Foundation of North Texas promotes and facilitates community involvement and philanthropy for companies. As a designated fund of Communities Foundation of Texas, EFNT makes it simple for companies to give back to the community by assisting with organizing volunteer activities for employees, and hosting networking events for senior level management of companies to help grow and strengthen its network of "good corporate citizens." In establishing a relationship with EFNT, a company networks with like-minded philanthropists while contributing to the greater good of the community. Today there are more than 80 companies in North Texas participating in EFNT, and more than 40 underwriters significantly supporting the effort.
