Portland Old Town's Technology & Arts Block To Undergo Revitalization Effort

Portland – Local Portland Business Leaders Purchase 520 NW Davis Environmentally Friendly Updates in Plans

Ryan Buchanan, CEO and founder of eROI, Inc. Dave Gold, developer and Nathan Sasaki, president of Apex Real Estate Partners have purchased the 56,741 square foot Technology & Arts Block (520 NW Davis) that consists of 4 buildings that are between 1 and 4 stories tall. The intent of the purchase is to cultivate creative companies and technology startups in the core of Old Town in Portland, Ore.  Furthermore, the group has committed to following "green" practices as they update.

Partnering on the project will be the Portland Development Commission (PDC). Erin Flynn, PDC Economic Development Director:  "PDC is committed to the growth of creative endeavor and innovation in Portland, which we recognize as a driver of new jobs and business success.  We're very pleased to welcome eROI and this exciting project to the Old Town neighborhood and look forward to our partnership in the Technology & Arts Block."

New tenants so far will include Buchanan's company, eROI, which has outgrown their current space of 6,192 SF in Albers Mill to move into a 10,000 SF space. eROI started this year at 28 employees and is now at 40 employees. In addition, Wired.MD will grow into a 5,000 SF space in the Technology & Arts Block.

As one of Portland's oldest neighborhoods, Old Town/Chinatown is witnessing a dramatic revitalization effort with both public and private investment. "Our goal for the Technology & Arts Block is to enhance the area by bringing in early-stage and innovative companies," said Ryan Buchanan, CEO of eROI.  Dave Gold and Nathan Sasaki agree that this area is a perfect location and provides a great environment for the creative new companies of today.  Building highlights include the exposed brick and timber beams throughout the building, and the convenient, green-friendly location along future MAX light rail and street car lines.  Due to this ideal location, eROI partnered with Tri-Met to offer free annual public transportation for all of its employees.
